 Winter Sports in Uttrakhand

Uttarakhand has emerged as ‘Destination Next’ for domestic and foreign tourists who are keen to try adventure sports or enjoy the snowfall in winter. While Uttarakhand always attracted pilgrims and adventure travellers for its mountains and valleys, there has been a huge uptick on the winter tourism front.



  • Skiing
Uttarakhand has some of the best skiing slopes in India, especially in Auli and Munsiyari. 
These ski resorts offer ski lessons, equipment rentals, and guided skiing tours.







  • Ice Skating
Ice skating can be enjoyed in the winter months at indoor rinks in Dehradun and Mussoorie, as well as outdoor rinks in Auli and Dayara Bugyal.



  •  Winter Trekking

Trekking in the winter months can offer a different and unique perspective of the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand. Popular winter trekking destinations include Dayara Bugyal, Kuari Pass, and Nag Tibba.




  •  Ice Hockey
Ice hockey is a growing sport in Uttarakhand, with indoor rinks in Dehradun and Mussoorie, and outdoor rinks in Auli and Dayara Bugyal.




  • Ice Climbing

The frozen waterfalls in Uttarakhand offer a unique opportunity for ice climbing. Some popular destinations for ice climbing include Chaukhamba, Bhagirathi, and Kedar Dome.

PANCHACHULI PEAKS The Panchchuli peaks are a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks lying at the end of the eastern Kumaon region, near Munsiyari, in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state. The peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 metres (20,781 ft) to 6,904 metres (22,651 ft).
